A great thing about snow in the South is that it forces us into rest - stillness - and Sabbath.  The downside is the loss of power, car accidents and the potential for injury.  So be safe out there, but enjoy the "snowpocalypse 2009" and the Sabbath!

Priesthood anniversary

Two years ago, I was ordained a priest in God's One Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.  In St. James's Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia, in the Diocese of Virginia, Bishop Peter James Lee ordained me a priest.  After a long journey of discernment, and two decades of resisting this call I was so happy and also humbled to be ordained.  It has been a rich and full two years as a priest, following six months serving as a transitional deacon.  I feel blessed to be ordained, and to be an Episcopal priest within the Anglican Communion, and have learned a great deal, but have a ton more to learn in this work.  Luckily, God and God's people are quite forgiving and have allowed me to grow into this role and I am grateful.  I look forward with hope to many more good years as a priest, husband, father, friend, brother, and child of God.

Christmas Canon - #2 - Handel's Messiah

Another one of my faves of the season (which I love listening to at any time of the year) is George Fredric Handel's Messiah.

You need to hear it, start to finish, and try to sing along as well...just beautiful, and some deep and thick theology there!
