This short poem by J. Pittman McGehee appears in his book Growing Down.
When a young priest, I
wrote a note to noted
author/theologian, Frederick
for all the plagiarizing I
had done of his good work
and thanked him for this
profound influence on my
theological world view.
By return mail on lined
paper from a legal pad he wrote:
"I was sitting by the sea, wondering
if the world wanted another word
from me, and your letter came."
