O God, who before the passion of your only ­begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Gracious and loving God, watch over the people of Ukraine. Sustain their leaders, protect her people, frustrate the efforts of her oppressors. Give the leaders and people of our countries courage and a capacity for sacrifice in their defense. And strengthen the world in its resolve to name and resist tyranny wherever it may be found. In the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior, who with you and the Holy Spirit, reign one God, now and forever. Amen

Dean of Canterbury Cathedral to Retire in May

 The Dean of Canterbury, The Very Revd Dr Robert Willis, has announced that he will cease to be Dean at midnight on 16 May 2022, the eve of his 75th birthday bit.ly/3GVBclf

Dean Robert was installed in July 2001, and during the coronavirus pandemic he has become familiar to online audiences worldwide via his daily Morning Prayer videos from The Deanery at Canterbury Cathedral - and the impromptu appearances of cats Leo and Tiger.

Speaking of his time at Canterbury, Dean Robert said: ‘These 21 years have been exceptionally happy and fulfilling, and I shall miss Canterbury greatly.’

The Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Revd Justin Welby, who was installed by Dean Robert at Canterbury Cathedral in 2013, said: 'Dean Robert has been one of the most exceptional deans of the post-war period. He is deeply loved not just at the Cathedral but across the Diocese of Canterbury, the Church of England, the Anglican Communion and far beyond.'

On Saturday, Feb. 12, countless proud Episcopalians tuned in to watch this beautiful, glorious, and inspiring service, celebrating the life of Blessed Absalom Jones, the first Black Episcopal priest and founder of The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas in Philadelphia. The Diocesan service was streamed from the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral and featured performances from a number of fantastic ensembles from all over the Diocese. This special event was planned by the Absalom Jones Committee under the leadership of The Rev. Canon Jordan Casson, Canon for Reconciliation and Peace. The Anti-Racism Commission congratulates and applauds them on this magnificent event. Celebrant: The Right Reverend Daniel G. P. Upcoming Anti-Racism Trainings

Racism and History Saturday, March 26 from 9 am to 12 pm on Zoom Fee: $15. Scholarships available. Explores the ways in which systemic racism was created over time through laws, policies and practices, while examining the ways in which our society has been continuously shaped by them. Completion of Introduction to Systemic Racism is a prerequisite. Register

The Anti-Racism Commission is here to connect you to trainings, resources and support that are rooted in our baptismal covenant. The Diocese's anti-racism trainings are mandatory for clergy and open to all. The series repeats annually. The Introduction to Systemic Racism workshop is offered three times a year. The Anti-Racism Commission was created by diocesan convention resolution in 2005 with the mandate “to affect the systemic and institutional transformation in the diocese away from the sin of racism and toward the fulfillment of the Gospel and the baptismal mandate to strive for justice and respect the dignity of all persons.” Consisting of 12 members, a mix of clergy and lay and persons of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds, the commission aims to increase awareness of the history and legacy of racism in our country and to engage members of the diocese in dismantling its effects.
