In Christ and with one another

I gained some hope in the following quote from our new Presiding Bishop.

"If some in this church feel wounded by recent decisions, then our salvation, our health as a body, is at some hazard, and it becomes the duty of all of us to seek healing and wholeness."

-Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori

We are constituted in Christ and we are a Body of Christ, not mere islands unto ourselves. I do hope that we can walk humbly and compassionately with one another, and that we all can see that we need one another.

It seems to me that Bishops can model Christian fellowship and collaboration for others and that this model seems to be one that can work in many areas. Possessing a healthy dose of humility and cooperation it seems that your parent's bishop in Arizona has done a good thing.

One troubling thing is that there are far more militant and nasty behaviors between people who disagree; it is in these messy and (often) anger-filled situations that something new may be needed.

However,I rejoice that some tweaking of the model of oversight by bishops can give churches what they need and also keep as many as we can "at the table."

I worry that some are adamant and hell-bent on leaving and are so passionate about it that if they do leave, they may never come back. (and I mourn this situation)

However, God is bigger than my imagination and while it may be impossible for me, "all things are possible with God"...and this is my hope.

Thanks for sharing this Good News from your parents' church!
