The Very Reverend Peter Carey, Rector of St. Mary's
The Very Reverend Peter Carey is the Rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Cathedral Road, Philadelphia. He is also the Dean of the Wissahickon Deanery. From a very young age, Peter has recognized God’s grace in our lives and has strived to share God’s love in word and deed. Before entering ordained ministry, Peter worked for more than 15 years as an educator, teacher, and coach in several Independent Schools. He holds two master’s degrees, and has taught history, humanities and religious studies to students ages 10-18. Peter+ was the Head Chaplain at two wonderful Episcopal Schools, and also served as Associate Rector in churches in the Diocese of Virginia. He also has coached lacrosse for over 3 decades at every level from youth to the professional indoor game. He serves the Diocese of Pennsylvania on the Dean’s Council, the Diocesan Council, and on the LGBTQ+ Committee, and previously served on the Finance and Nominations Committee.
