ST. PETERSBURG — Berkeley Prep won both the boys and girls team titles Saturday morning at the Class A, Region 3 final at North Shore Pool. The Bucs boys won in impressive fashion, amassing 452 points and beating second-place Shorecrest by 230. The girls team edged Tampa Prep 316-293.5.
“Our boys are deep and really good,” Berkeley Prep coach Kevin Rosepapa said. “Our relays were awesome today. We’re swimming our best right now. I think this was one of the best meets we’ve had at this school, at least in the 16 years I’ve been here.”
Senior Keating Mosher had a particularly good day, setting the school record in the 200 free (1:40.49). Mosher also won the 500 free in 4:32.95 and was part of the first-place 200 free and 400 free relay teams.
“High school season, for our team, is everything,” Mosher said. “We train so hard for this. I’m not surprised by our times.”
Other Berkeley Prep individual winners were senior Ryan Franzese in the 50 free (21.93) and sophomore Jesse Potts in diving (440.35). On the girls side, the Bucs won the 200 medley relay (1:52.20), senior Elle Chancey won the 50 free (24.57) and 100 free (53.04) and sophomore Stephanie Punzak won diving (451.25).
